From Ed Vance to MIDNIGHT RIDER on Mon Jan 2 08:46:00 2012
    Mike,

I just wanted to let You know that something is messing with my XP box.

I think sending .QWK packets to CCO is safe because SLMR is a DOS
program instead of a Windows program.

I'm just wanting to tell You about this so You could make sure that my
    PC isn''t infecting the BBS.

I use a Router between my DSL Modem and computers but somehow something
got in and it's driving me Nuts.

I've always said before that no one could drive me crazy because I'm
already crazy, but this thing has me wondering if it will take me down
to a deeper level of craziness. ;-)

I have SLMR on my notebook but won't use it until I transfer a recent
.QWK packet to it so it will have correct settings for the echos.

My plans are to update all of the Scanner programs on this XP box and
then unplug the LAN cable for it from the router.

After that I will run every one of those Scanner programs with a Full
Scan to try to get rid of whatever is bugging me.

I am keeping the folks in the WINDOWSA (WIN95) echo updated with my
    activities.

In the FIDO Gazette BBS Listings it says that CCO runs Synchronet under
Linux for www, and GT Power for Telnet, is that right?

    Ed,
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I do think your QWK transfers between
here and there should be fine.

Yes, that is correct! GT Power runs under OS/2.

    Mike,

I'm using my Vista laptop for BBS Mail until I get finished scanning the
    XP box.

    I'm confused.

Is the CCO Web Portal running Synchronet on a Linux box and the GT Power
BBS on another box running OS/2?

That's what I think I read above. DUH!

Yes, that is correct! They are both second or third hand machines that
have new life as my BBS boxes. :-)
