I'm reading in this area, & I'm seeing lots of empty messages -- is that
what the Kill item isfor -- to block from non-addressees? That's newfor a
    BBS area!

No, the Kill Protect is a switch that prevents the receiver, or anyone else except the sender and the sysop, from deleting a message. Back in the 1980's/90's, that was an option on some BBS software. "None" means that
you are not restricting the ability to delete.

I think the empty messages are a left-over of a misbehaving BBS utility
that deleted messages but left the headers behind. I have tried deleting
them as I find them but, because there is no message text, sometimes the
system thinks they are already gone. :)
