Hello Lady's and Gentlemen!
long time no see ya'll,i was busy all this time, and ill right now,but whatever.I just wanted to share my thoughts about the "The theory of the dead internet"
I hope no need to remind you abot this,so let me tell my thought.
What if all people after a long period of time, just leave the internet?
In some ways, I think they already have left. When the internet opened to the public, for a while a lot of "users" had websites and blogs that they maintained. With the rise of social media, a lot of the "netizens"
moved away from maintaining their own sites to posting their thoughts and
other content on the social media sites.
That left a lot of unmaintained ("dead") personal web pages.
Later came the bot activity. Because people were centralized on easy to manipulate social media sites, this was probably predictable.
What they will gonna do? where they go? what gonna happen ti the Internet that
we know right now?
I think we may already be seeing some of this. There are some long-time
BBS users who are often on the networks complaining about "social media burnout" and wanting to reduce their social media footprint. In recent
years, it seems like a lot of my high school and college friends have either disappeared from social media, or have really backed off on posting much.
A few have gone back to trying to resurrect parts of the old Internet that
they remember, like personal web pages, RSS feeds, gopher holes, etc.
I suspect a lot of people would do what they did before social media...
spend more time outdoors, socializing in person, etc. Not really sure what
the generation(s) that have grown up with social media would do. I feel
like they don't have as much to fall back on and may (falsely) link the
death of the internet/social media to some collapse of society as a whole.
Most people don't like interacting with bots, which will push a lot of
folks elsewhere.
All of those thoughts appear in my head, cuz i think that soon,we gonna live insome sort of cyberpunk.
Gonna wait for you'r answers fellas!
Peace
I guess that could be where the younger people, who don't know life without social media, might (d)evolve to. I suspect the rest of us will have it
better off.
Mike
