• your qwk account

From Mike Powell to Daryl Stout on Wed Feb 8 19:40:44 2017
    Daryl,
You sent me a message the other day about extra echos in your qwk packets. I tried to respond via email but the email bounced back.

Basically, SBBS has what I think is a bug where when I add a message area, even if I set it so that it should not be added to everyone's QWK packets by default, it does it anyway.

So, to get rid of any echos you don't want, just telnet to the bbs, choose '2' from the logon menu (for SBBS), and log on using your TBOLT QWK credentials. It should take you straight to the QWK mail prompt. ? will show the commands, and you want to use the one that allows you to Select what is in your packet. there you can turn off any echos that you are getting that you don't want.

    Hope that helps.

    Mike,

    Daryl,

Not sure why it did that. Sometimes, I'll send it from the BBS, but
    other times, I'll use GMail.

Basically, SBBS has what I think is a bug where when I add a message area, even if I set it so that it should not be added to everyone's QWK packets by default, it does it anyway.

I saw some areas with the areas of like "204" and "205"...and don't
remember seeing those with the GT Power echoes, including this one.

So, to get rid of any echos you don't want, just telnet to the bbs, choose '2' from the logon menu (for SBBS), and log on using your TBOLT QWK credentials. It should take you straight to the QWK mail prompt. ? will show the commands, and you want to use the one that allows you to Select what is in your packet. there you can turn off any echos that
you are getting that you don't want.

    Hope that helps.

I'll try to do it tomorrow or Saturday. I was originally going to be out
of town this weekend, traveling to Orlando, Florida for a ham radio event, but 3 things forced me to cancel the trip.

    1) Weather for Little Rock on Sunday night looked stormy, and I didn't want
to be flying back into storms. I still remember the night of June 1, 1999,
when severe weather was moving through the region. A severe thunderstorm
had just moved through Little Rock, but there was still enough low level
wind shear to cause havoc. An American Airlines Flight crash landed, and several people were injured, and there were also a few fatalities. It would have been more of a tragedy had the plane slid off the runway, and gone
into the Arkansas River...I doubt anyone would've survived that, and there would likely have been numerous lawsuits.

    2) My 90 year old Mom had to be rushed to the Emergency Room last
Wednesday via ambulance, and had a pacemaker put in on Friday, for a slow heartbeat. I'm her part time caregiver, but the medical staff want someone available for a good while for her. I'm only 15-20 minutes away if she
needs me. As it is, I do all the driving, shopping, etc. for her.

    3) My younger brother has had a condition that's common in males, and there
is no cure for it. When he gets a severe coughing fit, he blacks out, and falls. He did that at a Super Bowl Watch Party on Sunday, and crashed to
the floor, face first. He cut his forehead open, and they had to rush him
to the Emergency Room via ambulance. He has had that since a freak
motorcycle wreck just 3 months after my wife died 10 years ago, but we
didn't know about that until he told my Mom about it the other day.

So, with the combination of forecast rough weather, plus the health of
my brother and my Mom, I felt it was prudent to stay home. I did get a
travel voucher for the amount of the ticket, to book another trip by the
end of the year...but right now, that's the least of my worries. I also
was going to take a trip to Dallas in late March with my girlfriend, who
I went to high school with 40 years ago...but, that trip may go by the boards...and that's by her choice, because of various issues she's
    dealing with right now.
