Mike,
That does all sound rough. Hope your Mom and Brother have full recoveries, and that you and your GF eventually get to take a trip together. After all that you deserve a break.
Well, the trips have gone by the boards...more on that in a minute.
My Mom was back in the hospital, with shortness of breath. The pacemaker that she had put in was working OK, but she had fluid building up in her trachea instead of her lungs...so, she wasn't coming down with pneumonia.
But, they've got her on 40mg of Lasix in the morning and 20mg in the
afternoon.
As for my brother, he has had a history of blacking out and falling to
the floor...this last time, he fell face first onto a tile floor. He
nearly broke his nose and lost an eye. So, he's in no condition to take
care of my Mom...so, it falls on me.
As for my girlfriend, she has a lot of family and other issues right
now. I told her to "take all the time you need at your place to work
things out", and "don't worry about me".
I told her I wasn't going to "drop her like a hot rock", but there
seemingly so few fish in the sea nowadays...and it has been nearly 10
years since my wife died. I don't care if we stay friends, but if she
decides to end the relationship, I may quit looking, and live out my
days alone.
I was originally going to go to Orlando, Florida last weekend, for
the HamCation 3 day Hamfest...and to visit my in-laws, who I had not
seen since my wife died nearly 10 years ago. Unfortunately, with both
my Mom and my brother in the Emergency Room (at different times), and
she was admitted, I decided it was prudent to cancel the trip. I did
get a voucher for the trip from Southwest Airlines, good for a trip
booking until the end of the year...but, I may have to let that go
by the boards as well...as well as trips to other ham radio events in
Arkansas, and around the region.
In short, health (mine and my Mom's), and finances, have put a
damper on travel outside of central Arkansas.
