Mike,
I got the impression from some posts you made a while back that you were MP>somehow able to TWIT filter messages in the Dovenet echos so that you did no MP>see messages from certain users in your BBS message bases. mro was the user MP>question, I think
Correct.
Were you able to set something up so that his posts do not show up, or were MP>only able to ignore his posts on your own? I have recently added a couple o MP>usenet newsgroups and would like to be able to have posts from users who MP>constantly stray off topic to not show up. That is why I am asking.
With Synchronet, I put the handle of the "undesirable user" in the
user name filter (c:\sbbs\text\user.can). For GT Power, there is a
similar utility called Spotkill, that was produced by Rob Roesch of
HOTWARE utilities (he's long gone, like most all of the rest of the GT
Power Sysops).
SPOTKILL allows GT Sysops to enter the name of a user in the from
field, to field, or the topic of a subject, in the SPOTKILL.CNF file.
Then, when it is run, it will AUTOMATICALLY DELETE that message from the
GT Power message base. It is in the GT Power Utilities files area. Do
not worry about the /REGISTER option...as I think you're the main GT
Power BBS still left. While I could set up a deal to just have the
GT Power Sysop echoes for my use with GT Power Netmail, it really
doesn't seem to make sense to do so.
I have a file over here in the Synchronet files area called
TRASHCAN.ZIP -- it has data from my ip.can (blocked IP addresses),
user.can (blocked user names), and password.can (blocked passwords)
files.
