• Re: Best option for an em

From Necromaster@FREEWAY to Spitfire on Sun Jul 1 05:57:00 2018

So I have a PC Tower running windows 10 on it, it will load up
and then load up WinUAE for me and I have my Amiga. Is there away to
boot right to the emulated Amiga? Leave all the resources available for the Amiga and not the hogging Win10? Of course the PC will need the drivers loaded for the hardware and such so WinUAE can access them. I would like to convert a laptop over to strictly run WinUAE.

I have a spare PC desktop that I would like to do this to it also. If you
find out anything please let me know. Thanks

I did do some reading and found away to boot directly to AmigaOS on a Windows XP system. But it takes away the F12 option once it is set up. I am looking more into this.

Well, the best Emulated PC I have found use WinUAE and ClassicWB. I placed both the files on Rof. All you need is your Workbench Disks/Images. This is what I am using on my Amiga Laptop.

I'm with Spitfire here on this.. I am running WinUAE on a i3 with only 4gigs
of RAM and a 250gig HD.. AmigaOS 3.9 plain jane, runs real well, hasn't
crashed since I took the BBS and Emulator off a Virtual Box and AOS 4.1...
That was back in September.. If I don't reboot the machine or system for any reason I could run it non stop with no issues..

If you would, a step-by-step tutorial would be a magnificent thing to publish on your bbs and facebook. Imagine how many more Amiga laptops there would be if
someone published a guide. It might spare the landfill with still useable laptops. I'd be happy to publish this on my board and facebook page as well. ╓──╖ ╖ ■ ╖

I am finding that FS-UAE is hella more stable than WinUAE is.. and you CAN minimize the windows without it going into an error loop .. and FS-UAE runs
on all platforms (UAE/E-UAE forks are junk) .. I am using FS-UAE for the
    Amiga side now.

I've wanted to try FS-UAE for some time now. Yes, it is beyond irritating to minimize the WinUAE window just to see that it crashes moments later. Are you running a BBS on it?

I've setup WinUAE about 4 times now. I'm just wondering how Spitfire gets it to
start running and full screen when he starts windows. I've added batch files to my windows startup folder for WinUAE but it still won't load when the computer gets reset (thanks to Microsoft for the once a month update reboot). I've purchased a battery backup for my computer and comcrap modem so I have less reboots in my future.
K-Guide recommends starting WinUAE with administrative control, which is where I believe it won't run from my batch file. WinUAE will load the default configuration upon startup so I made sure my latest saved version is called default.
My batch file is one line that says "C:\Program Files\Winuae\Winuae.exe"
Yes, I'm running the 64-bit version for the BBS.

The way I figure it, most ppl that run UAE do it in a VM do disabling UAC
isn't really that big of a deal
