Mine was an A500 also. I spent $500 on a HD for it after having it for like 3 months only a 40 meg HD also. Jeez! I moved up to a A3000 when I found one at an online store for $700 brand new, they were liquidating all Amiga hardware and giving stuff away.. If I would have known then what I know now, I would have kept the A3000 put it away and sold it today for the rediculous prices people are getting for Amiga stuff...

My first Amiga was an A1000. I was not impressed with it. It was all new. Then a friend showed me his A500 he had, and I mad an offer and bought it
from him and sold the A1000 and used the money to up-grade the A500 to 3 megs of chip RAM. Later I found a Slide on HD for it. It only was 30 megs. Saved up hard and up graded it to 345 megs. At that time I know it was abou a dollar
a meg at that time. This was the system I ran my first CNet Amiga BBS on. It
was kind of late in the time, just about when AOL and Compuserve started with the internet. I still wish I had it, but I sold it to buy my first PC. AOL did not offer the software for AmigaOS to get on the internet. Just Windows or
    Mac. :(

Without a doubt, when I started getting back into the Amiga I priced out some on eBay $500 for an a500. $1g for a A2000.. Ridiculous!

My first was an A1000 in 1986. My first Amiga to run my BBS on. Before
that it was Vic-20 and C-64/128. The first software I used was BBS-PC.
    After that I purchased a 3000 desktop and then a 3000 Tower.

Still have them all along with many others. I think I have a total of 16 Amigas now.

My BBS went from BBS-PC! to Paragon/Starnet/MEBBSNet and then to Excelsior! After running Excelsior! for a few months earlier this year I have moved
    over to Zeus.

Wow 16 Amigas? My computer trips started with an Atari 65xe on which I ran
my first BBS with Oasis BBS using a modified XF551 disk drive and ICD MIO. From that I went to C64 (Never ran a BBS on it) then a Coleco Adam, then
Amiga 500, then Amiga 2000 in a tower (Man was it heavy) and now an Amiga
2000 on a Amiga 2500 case. But the girl is dying.

Hate that you can't get a key. Would love to have others running it to
share ideas about bugs and problems.

I got my key from him in 2011. Just now getting around to putting it
    online.

My first Miggy was an A500. Then I got the hard drive, then a A1000, then a A2000, then my 3000, and another 2000. Then I got a CD32. Only one of the 2000's work, my 3000 is fine and so is the 1000 and the CD32. Before all these I had bought an C=64 for $200 and a floppy drive for it for another $200, both from Sears waaaaaaayyyyy back then. :-)

How did you have more than one phone line going to your A500?
I had thought about using my A500, but I didn't see a way around getting more nodes. I got a 2000 with several cards already in it from another BBS and used that instead.

I used an ISDN modem. It allowed 2 56K lines in or a 128k duel line to
    double the speed.

I look back at everything I sold, gave away, or threw out. It is killing me now, back in 2015 I made the decision that I would never be running a BBS
again and would never need my Commodore stuff again, I was moving and didn't want to pack it all up and bring it. I gave away all of my CBM stuff, I threw out my $350 USR v.everything modem, I sold my A3000 around 1994 because I got so pissed that there would be no Commodore anymore. Now? I wish I had it all back, besides running the PC board, I am running an Amiga board, I am programming the Commodore BBS Image BBS again. Only good that came out of it
    is I just ordered a Ultimate 64, a uIEC/SD card, a swiftlink, and I just
bought a used C64 which I am going to use to test all the periphials I bought then turn around and sell it. I am back full blown into CBM, but the Amiga
with the Emulator just keeps on running. :)
