• Nobody had an Atari game console?

From HusTler@FREEWAY/HAVENS to All on Tue Aug 13 08:30:34 2019
Nobody had an Atari game console?? Come on. Somebody must have had one. I loved that thing. Pong, Space Invaders, Missle Command. It's the original home video game. Nodody had one? I just wish I had kept all the old consoles and computers I had. ;-)

We had an Atari 2600 when I was younger. My dad usually had the joystick though. He loved playing SeaQuest. :)

Actually, no I haven't. Never owned any game consoles. :) I do remember them though. Can't recall if I've played on one - have played on old game consoles (used to be pretty good at Duck Hunt), but couldn't tell you which one as that was over 20 years ago. :)

The 2600 was our family gaming system. I like River Raid myself.

I had one as a hand-me-down from a neighbor. We had fun on it for a while.
On the Atarti ST, I spent time "hacking" my way to figure out the game
ports, drew up a circuit diagram, and went to Radio Shack to buy the components that I needed, and built a game controller for it. Turned out
that they used a common ground and just had a pin for each button or
    contact.

That's exactly what I did! Fiddled with it to make it work! <grins>

I grew up with an Intellivision in that era, while some of my friends had the Atari.

That Atari started the whole game craze. Once Pac-Man appeared the rest as they say is history. Me and my wife would come home from work and play pong, missle command and astroids all night. Is was something we both enjoyed and could do together. The games were so simple to play but fun. Later on finding a Nintendo console for our Son at Christmas was a mission in itself. If anyone
still has one of those old consoles hidden in the closet don't throw it out like I did. (Duh) They'll be worth something someday. At the very least you can show the Grand Kids the way it was ;-).

There are a lot of YouTube videos where people talk about and play some of these older console or PC games. There are people out there who do
appreciate tbe older video games because of their role in starting or
    reviving the video game industry.

Look at us who are BBSing... :)

I am one of the odd ones outs with E.T. I actually enjoyed that game both as
a child and as an adult. I should bring my 2600 upstairs, it is in the
basement hooked up to a crt. It is actually my late grandmothers which I got from her a few years back.

I have a Nuon console. With Minter's support, it FEELS like an Atari. Man, Tempest 3000 is the game!

I also have a Jag, and Tempest 2000 w/ a rotary controller is maybe even better.
