    Who out there has messed with MAME? I have also heard there was a Pi system that could run Arcade ROMs?

    I have placed over 4000 Arcade ROMs on my BBS to share.

    Retropi runs a good amount of arcade ROMs under MAME. Some better than others :)

    Yes, I've been using Mame for years! It's a great way for me to try out arcade games before I buy the PCB for my collection.

    When using MAME and arcade roms you must make sure they are compiled for the specific version of mame you are using. Also, some users have forgotten
    they need a keyboard to simulate a quarter drop...

    I have multiple emulators running on a Pi3 B+ and Mame4All works well.

    I've used MESS and MAME for years. Myself, I use it to emulate a couple of computers, the Geneve 9640 and the TI-99/4A.

    Both of those systems are emulated quite well and with a tool, you can get serial interface to use modems or other serial/RS232 based hardware.

    MAME is pretty good. I have messed with it in the past and played a couple of classic games from the early days.

    Yes I am using MAME on a retopi arcade. I build a cabinet with zerolag controller boards and real arcade controls. Retropi and a 128gig image with something like 8000 games on it. It has a lighted marque which is powered by
    a arduino and animates. The cabinet came as a flat pack kit which I purchased off of etsy and modified to my own specs. It has a coin button. Some
    selection buttons and two 8 button arcade 8 way joysticks. I usually power it on when I have company and sometimes bring it to parties. I made it
    relatively beer proof.

    I am sure you have every one of the 4000+ ROMs I have and more. I like
    the idea, and "relatively beer proof" is a bonus!
