    If you have the hardware, Linux will run on it.. There are flavors of Linux for just about every known architechure.. If you get it.. it will run :)

    I went on a 4 day course on installing zLinux or something like that. It
    was an interesting experience and something I never used. Since I had
    never used a mainframe before there was a bit of a learning curve on
    using datastores and the 3270 terminal. For someone who already knows
    both mainframe terminology and Linux, it shouldn't be too difficult.

    Just don't question the fact you have to use the uuid of the disk in /etc/fstab!
